Disaster at the airport and in the air

Sometimes getting older truly sucks. I'll explain more about that in a minutes. However we got off to a good start last night. We were ready to leave Bowling Green ON TIME... amazing when hauling two models... but we did it.

Chuck, Gretchen, Twila and me just before closing the back hatch on my little SUV. Can you say totally full. 4 big suitcases, four good sized carryons and four personal items like my computer briefcase and the girls makeup bags, etc. The trip to Nashville, the parking and getting thru American Airlines checkin and security went pretty well thanks to a little luck and TSA Precheck. If you are going to fly much the recheck is well worth the $80 for 5 years.
Anyway, we made it to the plane and learned that American Airlines had totally screwed up Gretchen and Chucks seats... they were NOT sitting together. They had move me and Twila but not separated us. We were just at the back of the plane. No big deal. We lived with it.
The flight to Dallas was good but the landing sucked. I have never been on a large commercial jet where the pilot bounced it but this pilot did. He touched down hard and then, just for fun bounced up in the air and touched down hard again. That was the beginning.
In Dallas I can't use the words here to describe how bad it was but they start with the letters C and F. It took our entire layover to get it straightened out. But we were finally on the plane for the nearly 8 hour flight to Maui.
On the flight I noticed Twila was talking about things that were not going on... stuff about back at home. I finally realized she was not feeling well and to be honest I was freaked fearing maybe she had had a small stroke.

It got worse when we landed, got our Jeep from Enterprise and headed out. The jeep was full... poor Gretchen and Chuck had to sit with suitcases in their laps. Twila was pretty much out of it. But, when I realized that a girl who drinks 10 to 12 bottles of water a day had only had one... I started to wonder if she was seriously dehydrated. Then it hit me. Twila is the sleeping queen. But because of all the activity and noise she did not sleep much on the flights. That meant that she had gone 36 hours with little or no sleep. When I added dehydration and sleep deprivation to the mix I was pretty sure she just needed sleep.
To prove that she woke up this morning, Saturday morning about 6am and was pretty much fine. She didn't remember much about the trip to Maui but she was ready to get to work this morning. So, again I say, "God looks out for fools and little children" and we all know which one I am. I should have never agreed for us to stay up so we might sleep on the plane.
Thanks for reading. More coming.
